A Day In The Life Of A Wall Street Executive
A day in the life of a wall street executive typically begins early in the morning. This can be as early as 5 am. Often times the executive lifestyle is demanding and this only allows a limited amount of time during the day for exercise or healthy diversions. After some morning exercise and daily rituals, the executives first impulse is to check email and the daily news.
The advent of technology allows the executive to do both very adequately. There are phones on the market that give email access and gadgets such as the Kindle reader from Amazon that supply the relevant daily newspapers at one’s fingertips. Many executives are masters at multi-tasking and are able to exercise, eat breakfast, and read the newspaper simultaneously. Some intake their daily information fix during the morning commute.
Then its off to work. Dressing for success takes on a entirely new meaning depending on day of the week. The big meeting Mondays generally require a suit and tie. Most other days can be tolerated with a casual yet professional wardrobe. This can entail a simple dress shirt and pant outfit with maybe a sports jacket. The weather also plays a role in deciding the accessories. Depending on the career stage, many wear cuff links with a men’s sport watch.
The work can be stressful and this can take its toll. For many executives, they play as hard as they work. To de-stress, many usually have a hobby or recreational outlet that they find relaxing. The type of activity can vary from person to person, but a sure fire cure to any stress related effect is a good long nap. An active lifestyle in itself has its advantages.
After work, many executives tend to live outgoing lifestyles, as well. They typically have dinner at trendy restaurants and attend night clubs on weekends with various body models. At least that is the cliche? In reality, many live rather dull lives. For some, an big outing might be a golf foursome. It all depends on the person and stereotypes don’t really hold.
The executives also tend to be more health conscious. Many, in fact, would rather cook at home using organic ingredients. Cooking at home can take on an entirely new meaning with all the gadgets available on the market today. However, one staple accessory has been a Cuisinart food processor. This machine is versatile for all types of cooking and also is less traumatic on the hands, as it removes a lot of the slicing and dicing. A good juicer is also very useful.
In short, a day in the life of a wall street executive can be as atypical as any other profession. However, movies today tend to depict certain groups in certain ways as to convey some type of social critique. This is of course the writer and director’s viewpoint and should not be taken as gospel. Case in point is the movie American Psycho.
