Well, the site looks a little over the top and the claims sound a little over the top, so is Jamorama really one of the best acoustic guitar lessons for beginners online? Or is it just one more online scam to try to separate you from your dollars. We decided to test it out and see if it was genuinely all it claimed to be.
Ben Edwards, former lead guitarist for the Australian rock band DegreesK produced the lessons. Unlike most others though, Edwards has a bachelor’s degree in education and an outstanding reputation as a personal guitar teacher. There is an e book that’s in excess of two hundred pages, one hundred and fifty three video clips and over four hundred audio clips. If the course does not teach efficiently though, none of it means anything. There are a lot of sites that promise easy video guitar lessons and then do not deliver any genuine value.
The e book is outstanding with diagrams and illustrations to help beginners figure out how to learn to read music and how to learn guitar tabs. The ebook covers the basics of music theory and how to play chords. One thing we hadn’t seen anyplace else were the instructions on how to play by ear. With the basics in music theory, students can learn to identify notes and chords and play any song they hear on the radio. Which is rather impressive.
The videos are well done and work with the e book to supplement the info with actual demonstrations of techniques. This program is interactive and gives the pupil the feeling of working with a private instructor. These are easy guitar lessons.
We were very impressed with the audio files, which offer hundreds of songs for the users to learn and play along with. They are different styles of music so users can experiment and pick which style they prefer. At this level there is no effort to focus on just one style. As far as online guitar lessons for beginners, these are really the best we have viewed.
Understand that these are acoustic guitar lessons for beginners online to intermediate students. More advanced pupils may not find this course very useful. Jamorama does have lessons for pupils at more advanced levels, but we wanted to focus on the basic beginner guitar lessons online.
One of the most amazing features of Jamorama is the price tag. There isn’t another guitar course that gives anywhere near this much information at this price level. At $49.95 the course is very reasonably priced.
We liked the interactive features and the games that were substituted for the boring exercises. Learning the basics can be dull, but with this study course it’s fun. You can get a free lesson to try out the course before you purchase it. The free lesson is very good and we recommend prospective pupils try it.
