Sky planning to launch HD Electronic Programme Guide
Currently there is ‘Standard Bouquet’ of channels that all the Sky TV subscribers view whether they watch the standard, HD or 3D TV. With the new EPG there will be another bouquet launched called the ‘HD Swap Bouquet’. This will be available to the HD TV subscribers along with the old Standard Bouquet.
With the new EPG the Sky HD customers will be able to change the positions of the HD channels with those of the Standard Definition (SD) ones. HD viewers will obviously want to view the HD channels first on their channel list which does not happen in the current programme guide. The HD programme will eliminate the problems of the viewers and they will be able to spot the positions of their favorite HD channels easily. This service will go live in February 2011.
Sky customers who subscribe to even a single HD channel will get to access the enhanced and improved HD EPG. HD customers often end up watching more of SD channels due to difficulty in finding the HD channels. The new HD guide will help avoid this and HD customers will get to make the most of the High Definition viewing experience.
