Why can’t I search for a certain file format in windows 7 explorer?
I’ve got a folder full of ebooks of different file formats, a lot are in subfolders. I was trying to find all of the .mobi files using the search function in the top right corner but it wasn’t working. I tried ‘mobi’, ‘.mobi’, ‘type:mobi’, ‘type:.mobi’ but none of them came up with any results. I definitely have mobi files in the folder as I can open them individually.
Why can’t I get hold of them all on there own?
Make sure you’re in the parent directory, not in a subfolder. Other than that it should work. Just ran a search right now using the top-right search bar to find all the WMA formats in my music folder (I really do need to get around to converting those…). Used wma, .wma, and type:wma.
Though I did find something that may be related to you, listed in the sources.
