While the international version is slightly more expensive and the electronic books will cost more, buying your eBook reader directly from Amazon will mean that you get the right model for your location. Amazon is also in deals with large bookstores worldwide to stock the Kindle’s directly there so when that happens it may be a case of simply strolling down to your local bookstore and buying it there.
Secondly cost. Obviously buying your eBook reader directly from Amazon you will need to factor in things like shipping costs and perhaps even insurance. If you are an international buyer this could prove expensive. You can often find deals on second hand Kindle’s at places like eBay and Craigslist, but make sure you are getting a good deal and the device hasn’t been damaged in any way. You will also need to ensure that your seller is reputable to avoid getting ripped off.
Finally stock availability. Last Christmas the Amazon Kindle was sold out and many people didn’t get their reader’s until well after the new year. If you are buying from a local bookstore, then either ask them to put it away for you, or buy it as soon as you can afford it. Same goes with buying it online at Amazon.
If you are buying for a Holiday Gift then you should be making your purchase now so that you are assured of getting one in case they run out of stock. This is especially a consideration for global customers who run the risk of long shipping wait’s as well.
