Legal Precaution?
Does anyone know what precautionary steps, I can now take, in the order of taking my 15 year old son on excursions of entertainment, so that I’m not accused of his abduction His mother, for no apparent reason has, throughout his life, denied me P.R, conatct, or joint custody, just to be spiteful, but as an automatic right has them, to her aid, as we were never married. Now that my son is 15, we are trying to make a go of things, but his mother constantly thwarts visits/telephone calls, disallows contact, of which he thinks I am the one who keeps letting him down. A prior arrangement with her, regarding shared care and residency, was revoked, via an application to the CSA, which said that I wasn’t maintaining or supporting him, a total lie,has led me finally to not have any trust or faith in whatever she says, and means that my son and I both loose out. Her reason for this, was due to me not wanting to re-kindle a relationship with her that had been non existant for over 12 years.
your son is 15 now and i would try and speak to him and ask what HE wants, he is old enough that a court would recognise his wishes and hear them, this woman will only serve to drive her son away in the long term as she is obviously very controlling, she has and indeed is just using your son as a pawn in her silly little game and i really feel for you, it is so refreshing to see a father who actually cares so much about their child to even bother, i would contact a solicitor and see what you can do about contact when both of you want it, she would then have to allow it as he would realise that it was her doing that all the contact has been lost. She is clearly very bitter but you have got to the stage where there is no point trying to reason with her, it gives her the power and control over you that she craves, failing that your son will soon be able to make his own choices without her permission and you clearly love him very much, your son will soon start to make his own decisions, lets just hope he rebels when the hormones kick in, she will be begging you to take him out then just for a break. good luck and your son is very lucky indeed to have a father like you emma
