The Architectural Focus of Your Travel to Spain
Architecture tells a tender story about what a country has been through to get where it is nowadays; it sounds overly romantic, but it’s true that the key to a country’s past is hidden in plain sight in the form of perceptible and non-tangible cultural evidences. Spain is one of those countries that really put much store in caring their cultural tradition through preserving architectural structures. You’ll find it quite impressive that they’ve even managed to preserve structures that were created many centuries before Christ; most of them can even be thought as well-preserved.
Preparing a vacation doesn’t just involve having the money to spend for it, although obviously this is a big factor in being able to move around the country. You could be looking at maps, booking rental cars and hotels, and planning your routes; however, don’t forget the essentials of such a trip because your convenience and safety should come first. Of course, it could be fun to get lost in Spain, provided that you know how to ask people for directions; it’s also important that you know some important Spanish phrases and sentences so that you can stop and ask locals for directions, just in case you really can’t find your direction back to your hotel. Rocket Spanish is an excellent tool that can aid you in learning to speak Spanish.
It’s good to also have a list of places that you want to visit, however you should be prepared for the risk that you might not be able to visit all of them because there’s simply way too many places to visit. The structures at the Balearic Islands were used as funeral places for people during that time. Other prehistoric buildings also include the walled villages in Santa Tecla and Avila which, extremely enough, show something akin to urban planning because of the way the houses and streets are arranged in coherent grids.
As the Spanish empire grows older, it became more influenced by more civilizations as well such as the Roman Empire’s civilization; during these times, there were many canals built. Rome’s conquests around Spain produced a change in Spain’s religion, bringing with it a change in the kind of architectural structures being built around Spain. Other typical Roman structures like grand lighthouses and aqueducts were also built; perhaps the most popular of these would be the Aqueduct of Segovia which is, so far, very well preserved.
All seasons pass and so did the period of the great influence of the Roman Empire on Spain, although the marks have already been made and left in the culture of the country. The Cathedral of Avila, for instance, is regarded to be the first Gothic building in the country. It’s a cathedral that has delicate effects from Roman architectural approaches but leans more towards the French and German influences.
Exploring the changes in the architectural trends of Spain over the centuries can tell you what had formed the country into whatever it is presently. It’s best to play your route around Spain’s historic and iconic architectural structures based on the place or places where you will stay.
