Kandle, A Light for Your Kindle
Back in the days when we were still reading with books, we would always have to get up to switch off the light on the other side of the room. Sometimes the light would seem so far away that we would just go to sleep with it on and wake up at a later stage with burning eyes. If we were lucky enough to have a reading lamp we would have to hug the corner of the bed to catch the bit of light that emanated from the huge space-waster. The emergence of the Kindle has not rectified this basic night reading problem, because the Kindle does not have a backlight. Unlike mobile phones, the Kindle cannot be used in the dark without a source of artificial light.
Books could not overcome this shortcoming and desperate inventions like the clapper did very little to stop people from having to get out of bed. The Kindle, however, has one advantage over books: the Kindle does not require page turning.
The requirement of turning pages meant that people could never attach anything to a book with any great success. A contraption attached to the top of a book would irritate the reader every time a page was turned and the spines of most paperbacks are too flimsy to support even lightweight electronic devices.
The Kindle is not disadvantaged by either of these problems because it is sturdy and it does not require the reader to turn pages. This means that a small light can be attached to the top of the device and allow the reader comfortable night-time reading. So, some companies have developed “Kindle lights” specifically designed for the device.

There are several different Kindle Lights and each one has slightly different features. You should expect to pay between $19.99 and $24.99 for the Kindle Light of your choosing. How do I use the Kandle?
The Kandle attaches directly to the top of the device and the neck of the light is adjustable. Many of the cheaper generic options do not have the adjustable neck and this limitation could become irritating if the light doesn’t illuminate the whole screen.
How bright is the light?
Two powerful LEDs spread light evenly over the whole screen. They are strong enough to function in any extent of darkness.
What power source does the Kandle use?
The Kandle uses two CR2032 (button cell) batteries that come included with your purchase.

Kindle has removed the problems which have always plagued night-time readers. Kandle have once again reminded us of why technological advances make life more comfortable. The most appealing feature of the Kandle is that you can read in the dark, in the middle of nowhere if you want to. You do not need to strap a flashlight to your head to read in the jungle anymore.
