How to protect my ebook?
I’ve written a book that’s going to be published by a traditional publisher in January. Recently, a reviewer (who writes in an online magazine) asked for a review copy that would be ‘preferably an ebook’.
Now, my publisher is supposed to have it sold as an ebook via Amazon DTP program (Kindle), but that won’t be up until the release date and it’s not possible to “send her a copy” of it unless I buy it for her.
I have the book on my computer in PDF and .doc formats. How can I protect the book from being uploaded for free online or shared to a large group of people?
Seriously – how stupid do you think I am? Of course I didn’t send it yet! I’m trying to figure out a way to DRM it BEFORE sending it to the reviewer!
You probably should have thought that over before giving it to someone. There is no real way to prevent it from being published online for free. Just hope the person you gave it to does not release it.
