Under the Dome by Stephen King
Some people like books filled with romance and tragic love. Some enjoy action novels packed with gun fights and bombshell blondes. And then there are those who love horror and suspense. There are quite a few horror writers out there but very few can claim the fame that Stephen King has managed to hold. Under the Dome by Stephen King is another trip into a world that, on the surface, is much like every town in America. But it is King’s phenomenal ability to twist that everyday, ordinary story into something that chills you to the bone and makes you glad it is only a story.
It is not hard to guess what Under the Dome by Stephen King is about nor is it hard to realize that things are not going to be as straightforward as you may wish. The Simpsons Movie was an adult cartoon about a town trapped under a dome but King’s town and dome are much more sinister. Correction…it is not the dome that is sinister, it is the people trapped inside that truly make this story horrifically realistic.
Under the Dome is no mere story about people kicking down a glass dome to get out. Within the dome King weaves a complex and muddied conglomeration of humanity. It ranges from a religious obsessed bully and a veteran, to a newspaper editor and high school geek. This book manages to touch on personalities that any reader knows and knows well. Perhaps that is the most terrifying part and why readers are absolutely raving about the novel. It is because they know how frighteningly real it could be to battle against one another rather than a vampire, werewolf or some other ghoulish creature. What person wants to admit that their neighbor is just as frightening as any scary monster?
Readers are overwhelmingly in awe of Stephen King’s newest addition to his phenomenal library. And if you have been keeping up with his books then your collection is nothing to sneeze at. Under the Dome by Stephen King is not inexpensive if you elect to buy the hardcover. You will easily pay around $35.00 unless you catch it on sale. If, however, you happen to own a Kindle, then you can get it for the fantastic price of $9.99 from Amazon directly. That is quite a deal considering how big the book actually is and what you get in return. If there is one thing you should definitely understand it is that the story is going to unfold and snare you up. It may have you looking at your own neighbors in suspicion.
