Tips to keep your fish healthy

Most of the hobbyists observe a mishap to their fish. One may say that it’s an disadvantage of fish keeping. They usually find that their fish become ill at some point in time. Most of the responsible fish keepers do take pain of what happen. They keep a sharp eye on their fish and keep checking for signs of disease regularly. Although this system is better than deserving the worst which may be the fatal fate of the fish, one should be a step ahead. As it’s a common saying, “precautions are better than treatments”, the law applies well in case of fish at home. Better care will save future complexes. It is not a difficult task to keep diseases away from fish. If you feel like you are really going to see no disease in your fish, just keep in mind, the below five important points, “the healthy fish tips”.
1.    The first point.
When it comes to the quality of environment for the fish, I think if I advice more and more water change, I am still far away. You should keep in mind that the most important tip for a healthy fish, away from diseases is the regular change of tank water. This alteration will help you remove the contaminations which are quite harmful, stressful and diseases generating to the fish. You can plan a schedule for the regular change in water. The basic point is the whole of the tank water should be altered within a month. So it depends upon you to choose whether you are going to change twenty five percent of the water every week or you are willing to alter fifteen percent twice in a week.
2.    Keep the temperature consistent.
The importance of this point goes deep into the basics of marine biology and the nature of fish. Being cold blooded creatures, fish can’t keep their body temperature fixed. The variations in the water temperature may thus be very stress causing to the fish. What you have to do is to find out an optimum temperature level for your all kinds of fish in a tank. A temperature level where all fish could survive. Once you are done with this simple step you have to try hard to keep the temperature constant on the level you had discovered. Special concerns are needed when it is time for water change. Keep the point in mind that you are changing the water while keeping the temperature constant and the way to do so is bringing the temperature of both waters at a common level before change.
3.    Avoid chemicals and products.
Most of the hobbyists find a solution in various chemicals for the problems of pH variations and unclear tank water. This is not the best remedy of course. Using chemicals is rather more dangerous to fish. “How?” is the point that usually pops up into our minds. Various chemicals that are commonly used as medicines are harmful because they create an environment in the tank which is more stressful to the fish. Secondly they kill the bacteria which help your fish in keeping a good habitant through biological filtration process. One can use different solutions which are more natural than synthetic to solve problems. It is really not a good idea to chemicals to remove chlorine and salts from the tap water, you used for your fish tank. Regarding variations in pH, one can raise its level by using rocks and lower it by using plants or wood. Thus don’t use chemicals until they are really demanding.
4.    Use an aquarium instead of a tank.
Keeping an aquarium is a good idea to keep diseases away from your fish especially when you have just bought them from the fish stores. A survey has proved the fact that all those hobbyists who use an aquarium for their fish are less exposed to fish problems and they don’t bother about expenses on their maintenance. While those who use built tanks for the fish, may find it all right for the aboriginal fish but when it comes to new habitants, it don’t work most of the times. Keeping the past experiences, you better buy an aquarium for your fish and avoid any possible disease. One more point, quarantine your fish in a gallon of water before you practically introduce them in the new environment.
5.    Don’t Keep An Aggressive Tank.
Aggressions and conflicts are devastating in all cases. Same is the scene with different fish in the same tank. Sometimes it is normal like if you have an African cichlid, you will find aggression among fish and some conflicts regarding territories. But sometimes it may not be the normal one especially when you observe that there is a fish which is getting picked on by all of the fish. Here you have to find a solution by yourself. Sometimes you will find that just rearrangement of the tank and constituents will solve the problem and this new arrangement is giving more and more space and hiding sorts to the ‘picked up’ fish. If this idea doesn’t work, just have a replacement for the trouble making fish. You may replace or trade it in to a local fish store. This will keep fish away from stress and diseases.
