How can I get my money back from a website that scammed me (locoauctions.com)?
Ok, I don’t think I was actually scammed. Here’s what happened: I got onto a penny auction site called locoauctions.com. They are now apparently owned by Winbids LLC. I won an Amazon Kindle and paid for it. This was at the beginning of April. I still have not received it. I have tried calling many times, and I have sent many emails, but no response. I checked out reviews for the site, and they all seemed to be very positive. So I left many bad reviews to warn people (I warned Loco Auctions before I did this as a sort of threat, but they didn’t respond). Then after awhile, I found someone else that has the same problem with the site. But only recently. Which makes me think that they were once a legitimate website, but ran out of money or something else, so they just left the site how it was, with about 8 reserve auctions going. I’m pretty sure nothing else has changed on the site sense I was on. If anyone could help me with my dilemma, it would be much appreciated.
Hi! I am very sorry to hear about your bad experience with locoauctions.com, did you pay by credit card or PayPal? If PayPal you have 45 days to file a dispute in the resolution center. If by credit card I would contact your bank or CC company and ask to initiate a chargeback, explain the situation.
Not all penny auctions are scams IMO, but there are many that are. I’d like to invite you to join the Penny Auction Watch forum, it’s totally free – Would love for you to post your experience there as well to warn others and get advice. Let us know how it goes. Hope you end up getting your item. If not you may need to file a complaint with the FTC. See ftcomplaintassistant.gov.
Feel free to join the forum at pennyauctionforum.com.
