Is it legal to put free and public online stories on your kindle (like livejournal or fictionpress?)?
For example, using livejournal.com and/or fictionpress.com. If I created a file in mobi(kindle format) for my sole personal use, with no intention of claiming credit or distribution, would that be considered not legal? I travel A LOT and do not often have access to internet, or if I do I don’t have time to be reading. I just downloaded Mobipocket Creator and would like to use it to put some such stories on my kindle, but I wasn’t sure how the copyright would work in such cases. I will state however that if the author removed their sotry/stories and got it/them published I would delete it from my kindle.
As an author I would encourage you to go ahead and not worry about copyright issues in this case. The publisher is the entity who needs to come to terms with the current issues of reproduction through tech, and until they do, it is merry chaos.
