Which ebook reader is better: Nook vs Kindle?
I’ve been researching on cnet.com of the reviews of both of these ebooks and the Kindle made “Editor’s Choice” although I really like the touch-screen on the Nook. If I had an ebook reader, I would be reading magazines, novels, and some news plus blogs. The Kindle had good ratings but it doesn’t have a back-light which is a downfall for me. I’m really stuck between the two because their pros and cons kind of balance each other out. What do you suggest?…and please give some pros and cons.
BTW, I’m looking at the models that are $149.
I’d go with the Kindle because display clarity is more important to me than color for reading text, but if your needs are different in that regard, and you’re willing to spend another $100, then go for the Nook Color. Now that Amazon has announced upcoming support for library borrowing, there’s no reason to buy the Nook Wi-Fi, really. Pros and cons, per your request….
Kindle Wi-Fi:
Pros:
– Superior E Ink Pearl display
– Less expensive than your target $149
Cons:
– Is not backlit per your request (although many consider this a “pro”)
– Library borrowing not until later this year
Nook Wi-Fi:
Pros:
– Partial color touch screen per your request
– Library borrowing now
Cons:
– Older E Ink Pearl display
– Is not backlit per your request (although many consider this a “pro”)
Nook Color:
Pros:
– Full color backlit touch screen per your request
– Nice web browsing experience
– Better apps and games
– Library borrowing now
Cons:
– $100 over your target price
– LCD display hurts battery life and is disliked by many for book reading
