Is Twilight a good book?
I’ve read the first chapter (Amazon Kindle sample book service) and it sounds good so I just want some opinions on the book and series before I go drop the $10 for my own copy (can’t borrow it library only has 8 copies and 15 hold requests)
It really depend on your level of reading and understanding. This book has drawn in mainly a preteen and teenage crowd, but many people who are at a higher educated level as well as older would say that this books dialog is very poor. Also the relationship between Bella and Edward is rather bazaar, not much that they are in love yet they are more obsessed with each other. A real reason they like each other is never really explain, Edward reasons are more like “I need to be with you because your blood spells so delicious” and Bella’s reason is more along the lines Edward is so good looking, and she seems to think his stalker and obsessive nature is “cute” per say. Also the way vampires are portrayed in this book is rather an insult to the way vampires has been explained in mythology. Sparkling skin and friendly sweet nature doesn’t really pass the vampire scale. Yet vampires are seen as more as sinister and bloodthirsty and rather sparkle in the sun they will burn up in it, unless your Blade or Marvel’s version of Dracula. Some would n’t even call them vampire, but “Meyerpires” referring to the author’s last name. Also in a interview Meyer admits to doing no research whats so ever on vampires before reading this book along with other over bazaar explanations and reasons for her book. Yet this is a simple opinion of one person.
